Reflecting on Regeneration Nexus with Maya Dentzel and Tereza Bízková │ S4 Bonus 🌐🎧

What stood out, what still lingers, and what’s next for ReFi?

In the final episode of Season 4: The Regeneration Nexus of the ReFi Podcast, hosts Maya Dentzel and Tereza Bízková take a step back to reflect on everything that’s unfolded over the 15 episodes—from early questions about the meaning of regeneration to the real-world challenges of building systems that last.

For the first time, it was just the two of us on the mic (could you tell we were nervous? 😅). We looked back on the season’s three-part arc—Vision, Practice, and Tools—and talked through the moments that stayed with us, the ideas that shaped our thinking, and the patterns we kept seeing across conversations.

From building trust with communities to asking better questions about tech, from learning what “regenerative” really means in different contexts to grappling with the need for sustainable funding models—we tried to map some of the shifts we’ve noticed across the space. But we also wanted to take a beat and reflect on regeneration as something personal: how it shows up in our own lives and why that matters, too. 🧘‍♀️

🌎
"We first are being, then we’re doing, and then we’re having. But in modern society, we tend to skip the being—we jump straight into doing or wanting to have. Focusing on cultivating a state of peace and staying in touch with your higher self, not your ego self, is so important." —Maya

Key insights from the finale include... 💡

  • Regeneration is a process, not a blueprint. It looks different in every place—and that’s the point. One-size-fits-all approaches don’t work for systems grounded in relationships and context.
  • The role of Web3 is still being defined. There's growing clarity that blockchain should be part of the infrastructure—but not the focus. Making tools usable and accessible matters more than the tech itself.
  • Funding is still a bottleneck. Many projects are overly reliant on grants. If this space is going to grow, sustainable business models will need to be part of the equation.
  • Real-world stories matter. From legal personhood for rivers to sensor-driven forest data, what resonates most are the grounded, specific examples that show what regeneration looks like in action.
  • Language shapes how we think. Whether it’s shifting away from extractive metaphors or using simpler, clearer ways to explain complex ideas, communication remains one of ReFi’s most powerful tools.

🌐 Looking Back at the Nexus

This bonus episode is also the final one of The Regeneration Nexus. It’s been almost a year since we took on the mandate for the season, and we have learned so much along the way. We are so grateful for all the challenges, lessons, and growth and also incredibly thankful to everyone who listened, shared the episodes, reached out with feedback—or supported in any other way (including but not limited to 😊) John, Monty, Drew, Cash, and all our amazing guests.

Hosting this season has meant a lot to us, and we hope the content was useful and interesting or that it sparked something for you. And perhaps—if that’s not too naive of us—you’ll be coming back to it in the months or years to come.

Thanks so much for being part of it. We would love to stay in touch, so feel free to follow us both on socials (Tereza & Maya). 🙌
